Chris Campbell's Biography

Chris Campbell has been writing about live music and the jamband scene for nearly three decades. Her music journalism career began in 1995 when her first concert review was published in print. In 1997, after consistently contributing concert reviews to online forums, Relix Magazine's managing editor, Dean Budnick invited Christ to become a regular contributor to the newly launched Jambands.com—a role she continues today with features and show reviews that capture the music, communities, and transformative experiences that define jamband culture.
Beyond journalism and tech content, Chris's deep connection to music culture led her to serve as co-founder and communications director of Strangers Helping Strangers (1997-2002), a nonprofit that coordinated food drives at concerts to benefit local homeless shelters and food banks. Later, she was asked to step in to handle national publicity efforts for Strangefolk Music, Inc. (2000-2003).

Chris's writing career extends well beyond music journalism and writing novels. She holds a BA in English from UMass Boston and has spent 20+ years creating compelling narratives for enterprise technology brands including Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Her published work includes customer case studies, thought leadership articles, and strategic communications across multiple platforms.

After growing up in Massachusetts, settling down in Vermont, and then relocating to Washington state for her job, Chris has returned to her beloved New England and now resides in the New Hampshire Lakes Region with her husband and three sons. When she's not writing novels, serving her local community, or editing content as a side hustle, she's still traveling throughout the northeast to catch a show.

Her debut novel, The Strangest of Places, draws on her decades of experience in the music scene to tell the coming-of-age story of a (possibly neurodivergent) social misfit who discovers herself—and love—in the world of 1990s jamband culture. Her second novel, A Nightfall of Diamonds, continues the series in 2026 with new settings, new characters, new bands, and new challenges and revelations on the path of self-discovery.
