The Rabbit Hole

The Music Never Stopped: When Self-Consciousness Steals Your Voice
I loved singing Christmas carols in elementary school. There was something magical about learning those songsāthe harmony, the tradition, the way they made you feel part of something bigger than yourself. I didn't have words for it then, but looking back, I think it was the weight of cultural identity as an Irish Catholic, of belonging to this long chain of people who'd sung the same songs for generations.
